Life size The work is situated overlooking the village. I chose the site in conjunction with the school's headmaster. She also faces the kids' playground, which I thought was most appropriate. Her "wingspan" caused some headache. She was modelled in clay around a metal armature in my workshop (then in Edinburgh) and cast in a number of pieces before being welded together, finished and patinated. Once crated, the piece was too big to fit into an aircraft hold. DFDS Seaways kindly took me and the work by ferry to Kristiansand and SAS flew me home to the UK. I am grateful to both companies for their assistance. |
